Published August 26, 2021 at 7:23 am

Since early this week Mississauga and Brampton have been in a heat warning but we are about to get a day of seasonal temperatures.

For today (Aug. 26) a Heat Warning is still in effect for:

  • Mississauga – Brampton
  • Burlington – Oakville
  • Caledon
  • Halton Hills – Milton

Hot and humid conditions expected to continue today.

Daytime maximum temperatures: 30 to 32 degrees Celsius, with humidex values of 38 to 42.

Nighttime minimum temperatures: 16 to 20 degrees Celsius.

Slightly cooler and less humid air is expected on Friday, however, hot and humid conditions may return again on Saturday.

Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can cause the Air Quality Health Index to approach the high risk category.

Extreme heat affects everyone.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
