Last chance for splash pad fun at Mississauga’s Celebration Square

One sure sign that summer is winding down in Mississauga is when the popular wading pool and splash pad at Celebration Square in the downtown core cuts back its hours.
Starting this week, the hours of operation for the wading pool/splash pad have changed to Monday to Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday/Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
City of Mississauga officials say the square’s large fountain will remain open until Sept. 23.
Although summer is coming to a close, the City encourages people to take advantage of the remaining weeks of warm weather.
“Experience the magic of splashing away a hot summer day,” City officials say on the square’s web page. “Grab your bathing suits and head to the biggest wading pool in the city.”
Only steps from the water fountain, people will find food trucks, big screens and other exciting events happening in the square.
A wading pool attendant will be on-site at all times.
There are only a few simple rules, including that water shoes must be worn by those using the wading pool.
The City introduced some changes to the water fountain in 2019.
Celebration Square hosts a variety of free events throughout the spring and summer including several large festivals, concerts, movies, fitness classes and more.
The square is wheelchair-accessible, offers free Wi-fi and also features turf space and shaded gardens, food vendors and a licensed cafe, a 300-seat amphitheatre, two huge screens and a permanent stage for concerts and other events.
