A two-day Egyptian festival comes to Mississauga this month.

The Discover Egypt festival takes over Celebration Square, 300 City Centre Dr. on Friday, Aug. 25 and Saturday, Aug. 26.

The event is the largest Egyptian festival in North America, according to host, the Canadian Egyptian Heritage Association.

The event celebrates Egyptian culture, music and traditions.

Performers this year include Egyptian folk singer Omar Kamal, DJ WIWA, the Canadian Arabic Orchestra, and tabla and darbuka (goblet drum) musician Mareen El Masry.

“Get ready to dance to the hottest beats, immerse yourself in Egyptian culture, and experience an unforgettable celebration of all things Egypt,” organizers say on Instagram.

On Friday night, there will be a three-hour live performance featuring Oud, Al Andaleeb, and Um Kalthoum with Marwa Nagy.

The full schedule and line-up is not yet available but last year there were also children’s activities and food trucks.

Admission is free for the event.
