Large load delivery will impact traffic at QEW/Hurontario St. in Mississauga

Traffic in a busy area of Mississauga near the QEW will be impacted today and tomorrow (Nov. 15-16) as crews continue work on the rehabilitation of the highway bridge over the Credit River.
According to officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project, who are overseeing the massive undertaking, traffic in the QEW/Hurontario St. area will be disrupted between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday for “oversized load girder deliveries.”
Areas impacted are:
- QEW westbound and westbound off-ramp to Hurontario St.
- Hurontario St. at Harborn Rd.
- Premium Way, from Harborn Rd. to Stavebank Rd.
Specifically, project leaders say, the girder deliveries will take place from the QEW westbound, west of Hurontario St., to the work site access on Stavebank Rd.
The large loads will travel via QEW westbound, Hurontario St., Harborn Rd., Premium Way and Stavebank Rd.
Crews say minor traffic disruptions are anticipated and all closures are dependent on the weather.

Meanwhile, temporary nighttime/overnight lane closures have been commonplace the past several months both on the QEW and on Mississauga Rd. where it connects with the busy highway.
Major work and associated lane/ramp closures are expected to continue into late fall and early winter, according to project officials.

As work continues on the Credit River bridge project, drivers and area residents can expect ongoing traffic disruptions to impact part of the QEW and other areas in the vicinity of Mississauga Rd. and the highway in the coming weeks and months.
Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario St. to Mississauga Rd. is expected to impact traffic for the duration of the project.
