Drivers are being urged to avoid a busy stretch of a Brampton road after a “dangerous” sink hole opened up on Monday, police say.
Peel Regional Police say the large sink hole opened around 1:20 p.m. on Steeles Avenue between Airport Road and Goreway Drive in Brampton.
The hole has “large amounts of water pooling” and all eastbound lanes of Steeles Avenue from Airport Road to Goreway Drive have been closed.
Police say the closures will be in place “for an unknown amount of time.”
“Please plan ahead and avoid the area,” police said.

Peel Public Works said earlier in the day that traffic was slowed on Steeles Avenue east of Goreway Drive for watermain break repairs.
In an update on Monday afternoon, police said all eastbound lanes on Steeles Avenue “will be shutdown for at least 24 hours.”
“An update will be provided when the roads have reopened,” police said in a release.
