A tractor-trailer crash and fire shut down lanes on Highway 401 in Toronto on Thursday morning.
The crash happened in the westbound collector lanes of the highway at Neilson Road around 1 a.m. Thursday, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said on X.
A tow truck hauling a transport trailer crashed into a concrete wall resulting in a fire, Schmidt said.
“The tractor-trailer ended up rolling over, catching fire, resulting in injuries to the tow truck driver,” he said.
Schmidt said the driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver has been charged with careless driving, he added.

All collector lanes were closed for cleanup from Meadowvale Road to Neilson Road. Major delays were reported in the area during the busy rush hour commute.
The estimated reopening time was noon but Schmidt later said lanes could reopen around 10 a.m.
