Background:

A major artery through Mississauga has completely flooded due to a broken water main and their were two trapping motorists.

According to Peel Regional Police, they received a call about the break at Lakeshore Rd. and Lorne Park Rd. at 4:36 p.m. Two drivers were trapped by the onrushing waters with one climbing up to the roof of his vehicle.

Fire crews arrived on the scene by 5:30 p.m. and have since gotten the man down from the roof. Per Peel police, they are now working to get the other driver out of their car.

Update 9:30 p.m.: Repair crews have managed to shut off the flow of water under Lakeshore Rd. However, the break has not yet been fixed and the road will remain closed overnight for repairs and clean-up.
