Children under the age of 12 will still get to ride for free, but as of March 1, they will have to tap a PRESTO card as they get on a Burlington Transit Bus.

To help with the switch, kids’ PRESTO cards will be given away at the Downtown Transit Terminal and the Burlington Central Library tomorrow, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. One thousand of the cards will be handed out. Please bring proof of age, such as a birth certificate, to get a free kids’ PRESTO card.

Follow Burlington Transit on Twitter for other PRESTO card giveaway location details.

If you are turning 13 soon, transit users are asked to convert their PRESTO card from kids’ to youth to make sure the appropriate fare will be charged.

If you are under the age of 12, a PRESTO card is also needed when traveling out of town and using transit in Oakville and Hamilton.
