MASS SHOOTING: 3 people shot, 1 stabbed in Mississauga

Nine people have been charged and a man is on the run from police after a woman was kidnapped from a Mississauga nightclub and held against her will for two days in late August.

Peel Regional Police say the woman, who’s from Toronto, was at a nightclub near Dixie Road and Britannia Road East on Aug. 24 at about 8:45 p.m. when it’s alleged that she was grabbed and forced into a stolen vehicle.

According to investigators, she was held for 48 hours, during which time she was “taken to several locations in Owen Sound before being released in the Toronto area.”

Police say the woman did not suffer any physical injuries.

Investigators didn’t say which nightclub the woman was taken from, nor did they specify when arrests were made.

Charged with kidnapping (in addition to other charges in some cases, including drugs and weapons offences) are:

  • Mohammed Habibnia, 28, of Newmarket
  • Mohamed Khairy, 20, of Mississauga
  • Daniel Gonthcharov, 22, of Concord
  • Mohamad Halimi, 22, of Mississauga
  • Aaron Marshall, 35, of no fixed address (at the time of the offence, he was a federal parolee wanted for being unlawfully at large)
  • Jessica Proctor, 31, of Meaford
  • Tayshawn Atkins, 19, of Oakville
  • Darren McCann, 46, of Owen Sound

They were all held for bail hearings in Brampton court.

Also charged is Mohammed Salih, 26, of Mississauga. He’s charged with accessory after the fact to commit an indictable offence.

He’ll appear in court at a later date.

In addition, a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for the arrest of Karim Khairy, 22, of Mississauga. He’s wanted on a kidnapping charge.
