One man faces kidnapping and other charges and police are hunting for three other suspects in connection with an abduction and assault more than a year ago in Mississauga.

Peel Regional Police said they arrested a Mississauga man on Dec. 4 and charged him in relation to the Nov. 27, 2024 kidnapping of a 24-year-old man as he stepped out of his car in the area of Windwood Drive and Bucklepost Crescent, near Britannia Road and Glen Erin Drive in Meadowvale.

The victim was confronted by four suspects just before 10:30 p.m. (see video below) and forced into an awaiting Ford F-150 pickup, police said in a news release on Thursday afternoon.

“He was held for several hours, continually assaulted and threatened for money,” police said, adding the attackers stole his phone before releasing him near Loyalist Drive, in the west Erin Mills area of Mississauga south of Highway 403.

The culprits then fled the scene.

Following a “thorough investigation,” investigators made an arrest earlier this month.

Mohamad Rayyan Dassut, 24, of Mississauga, is charged with:

  • Kidnapping with Intent to Confine
  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm
  • Robbery
  • Extortion
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

At the time of his arrest, Dassut was subject to conditions of a probation order, police said. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police say they don’t have detailed descriptions of the three other suspects.

The investigation continues and anyone with information about this incident is asked to call investigators at 905-453–2121, ext. 1133, or Peel Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
