One of Oshawa most popular attractions is back with a muffled roar next month when Kars on King returns to the downtown.

Hundreds of classic vehicles and muscle cars will line downtown Oshawa streets on August 26 (3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.) for the event, which this year earns a new title sponsor: Atria Developments.

Anyone with a vehicle from 1991 or older and in mint shape is eligible to put their wheels on display. Register your ride at Oshawa.ca/KarsonKing by August 12 while spaces last. Registration is free of charge but all vehicles must register in order to participate.

“When it comes to much-loved community events in Oshawa, Kars on King is definitely ‘a classic’ and we are excited to see it rolling back into our downtown,” said Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter. “On behalf of the City of Oshawa, I encourage you to join us for what promises to be the perfect summer evening packed with free, fun activities that everyone can enjoy.”

Admission to the event is free. Kars on King features free, fun activities for all ages, including:

  • classic car displays
  • live entertainment on the Main Stage at the four corners of downtown Oshawa (opening ceremonies on the Main Stage at 5 p.m.)
  • children’s entertainers, crafts, animal acts and more at Memorial Park
  • community displays
  • sponsor activations
  • strolling buskers
  • culinary choices from downtown Oshawa restaurants.

Tribute Communities Centre will welcome back its annual Touch a Truck event that takes place outside the centre from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during Kars on King. This free, hands-on event allows children of all ages to get up close and personal with more than 40 vehicles of all shapes and sizes. Children will love the interactive displays and the opportunity to learn about the vehicles from the drivers.

Motor City Car Club will be on site promoting Autofest Nationals, which takes place Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28 at Lakeview Park in Oshawa. If you are a car enthusiast and want to see even more vintage vehicles over the weekend, be sure you visit Lakeview Park. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the Autofest Nationals website.

Canadian Automotive Museum will be offering admission by donation to the museum from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The museum is home to the most significant collection of Canadian automotive history in the world. Visit to enjoy vintage, antique and classic cars as well as Disney Pixar’s Lightning McQueen.

The Downtown Oshawa Business Alliance is also excited to be participating in Kars on King. During the event, residents and visitors are encouraged to explore downtown Oshawa’s shops and restaurants that offer a wide variety of shopping and dining options.
