June 9 weather: Risk of thunderstorms throughout the day in southern Ontario

Thunderstorms are expected on Tuesday in the Greater Toronto Area and could bring up to 25 mm of rainfall to parts of southern Ontario.

Environment Canada says the morning will start off sunny with increased cloud cover and a 40 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Oshawa and the Niagara Falls area.

There’s a risk of thunderstorms in the afternoon with a high that could feel like 29 C in Mississauga, but temperatures could be more like 18 C near Lake Ontario.

Tuesday night will be mainly cloudy with another 40 per cent chance of showers, followed by a risk of thunderstorms overnight.

Between 10 mm to 20 mm of rainfall is expected in Mississauga, with up to 25 mm possible in some parts of the province.

The overnight low will be around 19 C, the weather agency says.

Looking ahead to Wednesday, conditions are expected to be cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers throughout the day, a high of 29 C and a low of 21 C in Mississauga.
