June 18 weather: Winds up to 70 km/h and thunderstorms in southern Ontario

Thursday could bring strong wind gusts, showers and thunderstorms to the Greater Toronto Area and south Ontario.

Environment Canada says the morning will be cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Oshawa and the Niagara Falls area.

There’s a risk of thunderstorms across the GTA late in the morning and in the afternoon, with wind gusts that could reach up to 70 km/h.

The daytime high will be around 23 C in Mississauga, but will feel more like 26 C due to the humidity.

Thursday night is expected to be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers in the GTA clearing before morning. The overnight low will be around 13 C, the weather agency says.

Looking ahead to Friday, Environment Canada says to expect a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers. The high will be around 23 C while the low will be around 13 C.
