July 9 weather: Thunderstorms with high that feels like 38 C in southern Ontario

Thursday could bring showers, thunderstorms and a high that could feel close to 40 C to the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario.

Environment Canada says the morning will become increasingly cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Oshawa and the Niagara Falls area.

There’s also a risk of thunderstorms in the afternoon, with a high of 30 C which could feel more like 38 C due to the humidity.

Thursday night is expected to bring similar conditions, with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a risk of thunderstorms. The low will be 19 C in Mississauga and 20 C in Toronto.

Looking ahead to Friday, the forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers and a high of 27 C in Mississauga. The evening will be clear with a low of 18 C.
