July 4 weather: High that feels near 40 C and thunderstorms in southern Ontario

Saturday is expected to bring showers and a risk of thunderstorms to the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario.

Environment Canada says the morning will be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Oshawa and the Niagara Falls area.

There’s also a risk of thunderstorms in the morning with a west wind blowing around 20 km/h. The daytime high will be around 30 C in Mississauga but could feel like 40 C due to the humidity.

Heat warnings for much of southern Ontario are expected to last through the day.

Saturday night is also expected to be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers and a risk of thunderstorms across the GTA. The overnight low will be around 19 C, the weather agency says.

Looking ahead to Sunday, conditions are expected to cool with cloudy skies, a 30 per cent chance of showers and a high of 26 C.
