July 25 weather: Thunderstorms possible in some parts of southern Ontario

There’s a risk of thunderstorms and a chance of showers throughout the day in parts of the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario.

Environment and Climate Change Canada says the morning is expected to bring a mix of sun and cloudy conditions to Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton and Hamilton. Skies will be mainly clear in Oshawa, Pickering and the Niagara Falls area.

There’s a 30 to 40 per cent chance of showers in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton and Hamilton with a risk of thunderstorms in the afternoon.

The daytime high will be around 28 C in Mississauga but could feel more like 33 C due to the humidity. The UV index will be 8 or “very high,” the weather agency says.

No showers of thunderstorms are expected during the day in Hamilton or the Niagara Falls area.

Saturday evening could bring another 30 per cent chance of showers and thunderstorms across the GTA. The overnight low will be around 19 C in Mississauga.

Looking ahead to Sunday, more showers are possible with a 40 per cent chance during the day and a high of 28 C. The low will be 18 C with a 30 per cent chance of showers in the evening.

More wet weather could be coming next week with cloudy skies and a chance of showers throughout the day and a high of 27 C on Monday. There’s also a 60 per cent chance of more showers on Tuesday with a high of 27 C expected.

The seasonal normal for this time of year is between 15 C and 27 C, the weather agency says.
