July 22 weather: Showers and strong winds in parts of southern Ontario

Wednesday could bring showers and wind gusts up to 50 km/h to the Greater Toronto Area and parts of southern Ontario.

The weather agency says the morning will start with a mix of sun and cloudy conditions in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Oshawa and the Niagara Falls area.

There’s a 40 per cent chance of showers in Oshawa and Pickering, with rain also possible in Newmarket, Kitchener, Guelph, Orillia and elsewhere in the province.

A northwest wind will be blowing around 20 km/h with gusts up to 40 km/h in Toronto and 50 km/h in Oshawa.

The daytime high will be around 23 C in Mississauga but could feel more like 25 C due to the humidity. The normal for this time of year is between 15 C and 27 C. The UV index will be 7 or “high,” the weather agency says.

Wednesday night is expected to bring clear skies and a west wind blowing around 30 km/h becoming light in the evening. The overnight low will be around 12 C.

Looking ahead to Thursday, conditions are expected to be sunny in Mississauga with a high of 24 C during the day and an overnight low of 14 C. Friday could bring more of the same with sunny skies in the forecast and a high of 27 C.

The weekend could bring a return of wet weather with a mix of sun and cloud, a high of 29 C and a 30 per cent chance of showers. Sunday will be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers throughout the day and a high of 29 C.
