Heat warnings will stretch into Wednesday with a high that feels hotter than 40 C and wildfire smoke across the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario.
Environment Canada says the morning will bring a mix of sun and clouds to Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Oshawa and the Niagara Falls area.
There’s a 30 per cent chance of showers in the late afternoon and the high will be around 33 C in Mississauga, but could feel more like 41 C due to the humidity.
The heat warnings remind residents to watch for the early signs of heat exhaustion, including headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine and intense fatigue. Stop your activity and drink water.
Local smoke from wildfires in northwestern Ontario is expected across southern Ontario on Wednesday.
The weather agency says to limit time outdoors, and to watch for symptoms like eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough.
More smoke is expected on Wednesday night with another 30 per cent chance of showers. The overnight low will be around 20 C.
Looking ahead to Thursday, conditions are expected to be sunny with a high 30 C during the day and a low of 18 C.
