July 15 weather: High above 30 C as heat warning continues in southern Ontario

It’s expected to be another warm day with daytime temperatures that could feel close to 40 C due to humidity in the Greater Toronto Area and across southern Ontario.

Environment Canada says a heat warning issued late last week will continue into Tuesday, with hazy and humid conditions in the forecast for the GTA.

The daytime high is expected to be around 32 C in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Pickering, Oshawa, and the Niagara Falls area.

But humidity levels could make it feel more like 36 to 37 C in Toronto and Mississauga, while Pickering could feel like 39 C.

The UV index is expected to be a 9 or “very high,” the weather agency says.

Much of southern Ontario has also been put under an air quality statement due to smoke from forest fires over northern Ontario and the prairies. Environment Canada says people may experience symptoms like eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough.

“More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance,” Environment Canada says.

Into the evening, conditions are expected to clear before a return of haze and clouds with an overnight low of around 20 C.
