Lincoln woman, 80, charged with impaired driving causing death

An 80-year-old woman from Jordan (Lincoln) faces impaired driving charges and more after a September 3 collision took the life of a 50-year-old man.

On that day, Niagara Police were called to the Victoria Avenue and Spring Creek Road area in Jordan to investigate a three-car crash.

They discovered the 80-year-old had driven through the intersection going west on Spring Creek and was hit by a 50-year-old man coming south on Victoria in his pick-up. As a result, the man’s car careened off and hit a fully-loaded tractor trailer driven by a 22 year old man.

The 80 year old woman was ejected from her car and taken to hospital. The 22 year old man sustained only minor injuries. However, the 50 year old man was pronounced dead on the scene.

After a two month investigation, today (November 23), the 80 year old woman was caused with impaired driving causing death, driving over the legal limit and death by criminal negligence. Due to a publication ban, she is not being named.
