A Jordan retiree (township of Lincoln) won’t be worried about saving for a rainy day anymore after she collected $6 million in the July 24 LOTTO 6/49 draw.

Maria Waszczuk, 65, says she only plays the lottery “when there is a big jackpot. I enjoy LOTTO 6/49 and sometimes LOTTO MAX.”

When she landed at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her cheque, Waszczuk said she checked her ticket at the store and was stunned when she saw the prize.

“I checked it a couple times. I still can’t believe it,” she smiled. “I went out to my car and sat there for a while before going home.”

Then the mother of two told her husband about it and “He couldn’t believe it either. We are so excited!”

Maria plans to travel and share her win with family.

“It’s a strange feeling. It gives you comfort when you don’t need to worry about your financials,” she concluded.

The winning ticket was purchased at Pioneer Verve on South Service Road in Beamsville.
