John Brant Public School in Ridgeway (Fort Erie) is accountable for nearly half the COVID-19 cases in the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) as it is the first school with a major outbreak showing 10 cases and closed eight classrooms.

The Town of Fort Erie itself has the second highest number of cases in the Niagara Region at 45 behind only St Catharines with 51, despite the fact that it has a population of just 30,700 compared to St. Catharines’ 418,000 residents.

Other DSBN schools feeling the effects of the virus are Eden (one case, zero closed classrooms), the Education Centre (one case), Garrison Road (two cases, two closed classrooms), Jacob Beam (one case, one closed classroom), Jeanne Sauvé (one case, one closed classroom), Power Glen (one case, two closed classrooms), Prince Philip in Niagara Falls (one case, one closed classroom), Senator Gibson (one case, two closed classrooms), Stevensville (one case, one closed classroom), Westlane (one case, two closed classrooms) and Woodland (two cases, one closed classroom).

It is faring slightly better at the Niagara Catholic District School Board as its schools only have 11 cases in total. Their affected school are Canadian Martyrs Catholic Elementary School (one case, zero closed classrooms), Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School (two cases, zero closed classrooms), Monsignor Clancy Catholic Elementary School (one case, one closed classroom), Notre Dame Catholic Elementary School (three cases, three closed classrooms), Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Elementary School in St. Catharines (one case, one closed classroom), Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School (one case, one closed classroom), St. Edward Catholic Elementary School (one case, zero closed classrooms) and St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School in Fort Erie (one case, one closed classroom).
