Jewelry store in Ontario city robbed in smash-and-grab for second time in three months

Police are searching for at least four suspects after a jewelry store robbery Thursday at Pickering City Centre.

Durham Police responded to a robbery call at Peoples Jewellers in the Shops at Pickering City Centre 1t 5:35 p.m. Thursday after four masked suspects entered the store and began smashing display cases. The suspects stole a quantity of jewelry before fleeing the mall in a vehicle.

No employees suffered any physical injuries.

Anyone that was in or around the mall between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. and may have cell phone or dashcam video or information is asked to contact police.

The store was robbed in similar fashion in October when four masked suspects – at least four of them teenagers as young as 14 – came into the store and began “smashing” display cases. The suspects stole jewelry before fleeing in a waiting grey Honda CRV being driven by a fifth suspect, police said.
