A Japanese drum group will be bringing its unique sound to the Burlington Performing Arts Centre in May.

Toronto-based Nagata Shachu has been enthralling audiences with its heart-pounding performances of the Japanese drum (taiko) since its formation in 1998.

Featuring an arsenal of taiko (including the massive O-Daiko drum), bamboo flutes, the three-stringed shamisen and an array of gongs, cymbals, shakers and wood blocks, Nagata Shachu promises to take you on a musical journey beyond all borders.

The concert is Saturday, May 14, at 4 p.m. Tickets go on sale to BPAC members only starting Tuesday, Feb. 15, at noon. Public on-sale starts Thursday, Feb. 17, at noon.
