Jan. 17 Weather: Continued cold, risk of frostbite and scattered flurries in southern Ontario

Continued cold temperatures that brings the risk of frostbite and possible scattered flurries is in the forecast for Wednesday for the Mississauga to Hamilton corridor as the cold snap sticks with us this week.

A mix of sun and cloud will greet Mississauga and Brampton residents this morning, with a 30 per cent chance of flurries in the afternoon and a low of -16 C and a wind chill of -25 in the morning, warming up to -18 in the afternoon and into the evening.

Winds will be from the west at 20 km/hr, gusting to 40 km/hr, with a high of -10.

Temperatures will hit a high of -10 in Milton and Halton Hills during the day, with wind chills reaching a bone-chilling -28 this morning and -18 this afternoon, with a risk of frostbite for exposed skin.

Residents will also wake up to a mix of sun and cloud, a 30 per cent chance of flurries and winds gusting from 20 km/hr to 40 km/hr.

Sun and cloud in the morning and a 40 per cent chance of flurries in the evening is in the forecast for Burlington and Oakville, which will see similar wind patterns to their neighbours (becoming lighter after midnight) and wind chills of -25 in the morning and -18 in the afternoon.

Temperatures (without the wind chill) will be steady at -9.

Hamiltonians will wake up to partly cloudy skies and a few flurries, with strong winds at 30 km/hr, gusting to 50 km/hr. The high today will be -11, with wind chills as frigid as -29 in the morning and minus 21 in the afternoon. The risk of frostbite is real.

The wind chill will be -22 in the evening and minus 16 overnight, rising to -8 by tomorrow morning.
