Ajax country stars The Jackson Fox Band highlight the first concert in the Troubadour Series at the Biltmore Theatre in downtown Oshawa Saturday night.

Doors open at 7 for ‘Country Night’ at the historic and newly renovated Biltmore, a 600-seat venue that has quickly become the place for live shows in Oshawa.

The show starts at 8.

The Jackson Fox Band has been around long enough to know what gets the crowd moving, delivering a wide variety of upbeat music from new country charts, top 40, pop and rock. They will be joined by trio New Moon Junction, who are rising stars in the local country ranks, and the popular Red Cup Country.

The Troubadour Series will run every Saturday from June 11 through to July 16 for free, all-ages concerts featuring the best of the local music scene.

Most of the shows will be themed, with Heavy Metal Night June 18 with Last Demand, Crawl, Valyear and OMA-nominee Judgement. June 25 will be Celtic & Canadiana Night with Poor Pelly, The Irelands and local favourites The Doozies.

Producer Rick Kerr is also trying to line up some Oshawa Music Award-nominated bands for a Battle of the Bands on either July 9 or 16, has a special Friday night show featuring Oshawa’s Far From Infamy and Stone Temple 90s on July 8, and perhaps a Songwriters Night on the other night.

“It’s all great original music and I’d like to promote the up-and-comers.”
