It’s looking to be a hot time in the ol’ town tonight… and all weekend.

In fact, it’s going to be a sizzler in all 12 towns and cities in the Niagara Region.

While today (August 27) is a somewhat reasonable 27 Celsius (with a Humindex of 33C) and dropping to a completely comfortable 21C during the sleep hours, the weekend gets a bit toastier.

Saturday will see a high of 29C, which sounds good but with a 40 per cent chance of rain, that will drive the Humidex up to a shirt-soaking 39C.

Not looking any better for Sunday, either, as the expected high of, again, 29C mixed but with a 60 per cent chance of rain, the Humidex will register a sticky 40C.

As bad as it sounds, it’s been worse. The record high for August 27 was set in 1993 at 35.6C while August 28’s high matched that same number in 1973. The high-mark for August 29 was 34.4C set in 1973.
