Heat Mississauga

It looks like the summer heat is creeping in for a second week in a row with temperatures expected to soar into the 30’s for Mississauga, Brampton and surrounding areas.

For residents in southern Ontario it might be a good idea to stock up on sunscreen and keep cool beverages in close proximity as experts call for sunshine and blue skies all week long.

According to Environment Canada a ‘Rex Block’ is forming — not to confuse it with the dinosaur from the Cretaceous era, this weather pattern is bringing extended periods of “warm and dry conditions” for most of the province over seven days.

As of today (May. 27) it will be 24 C and mainly sunny throughout the day with the UV index hitting 8 or ‘very high’ — which means if you are spending time outdoors this weekend you might want to take extra precautions, because unprotected skin and eyes can be damaged and burn rather quickly in these conditions.

Meteorologist say, to minimize sun exposure by staying outdoors between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. However, if you must venture outside— this is where a good sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and light breathable clothing will save you from the negative effects of the sun.  The evening will cool down to 9 C — the lowest temperature compared to the entire week.

Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday will be full of glorious sunshine and crystal clear skies— and approximately 15 hours of daylight is expected (the most out of the whole week.) That’s not all, these three days will also have consistent temperatures, sitting at 26 C — much like playing a slot machine and hitting the jackpot with three of the same symbols.

With Wednesday on the horizon, the temperatures will warm up a couple more degrees to a high of 28 C — for a majority of the day, before dropping 11 degrees in the evening which will be the perfect Spring weather.

The Weather Network predicts that Thursday — which also marks the start of a new month — June 1 will be extremally hot.  Temperatures are forecasted to climb to 30 C but will feel a lot like 33 C.

As Friday rolls in, temperatures will remain close to 30 C with sunshine and no clouds in sight.

With the week looking this fantastic, it would be a smart idea to keep yourself hydrated!
