If not for a reality check–or reality cheque–that finally told him he had won $250,000, Mississauga’s Peter Campagna might still be staring at the winning ticket instead of cashing it in.

Campagna, a realtor, says he was stunned when he recently learned his Instant Lucky Aces ticket had won him a cool quarter-million dollars.

“I checked it using the OLG app on my phone and that’s when I knew it was real,” he said while picking up his winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “It just didn’t seem right. I couldn’t sleep that night. I kept staring at the ticket.”

Campagna, who says he had been playing the lottery unsuccessfully for 40 years, is thrilled with winning the top prize in this particular instant game.

“I love all the games, especially Daily Keno,” he said. “I haven’t been very fortunate with instant games until now.”

The Mississauga man quickly shared news of his good fortune with his family.

“I told my mother, and she couldn’t comprehend the amount of money,” said Campagna, who plans to pay some bills and have a great Christmas with his family with the money.

“I would like to go on a trip when the pandemic settles down,” he added.

The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on Steeles Ave., in Milton.

Instant Lucky Aces is available for $10 a ticket, with the top prize of $250,000.
