Al-Arqam Islamic Centre in north Oshawa is looking to buy a one-third acre site adjacent to the Delpark Homes Centre to build a new mosque.

The plot of land, currently landscaped open space associated with the arena complex, is north and west of the arena’s north driveway and parking lot and immediately south of the future Paul Dwyer Catholic Secondary School.

Oshawa Council declared the land surplus June 20, facilitating the sale to the Islamic Centre, which currently has a mosque at 1709 Harmony Rd. S.

The City is seeking public comments on the possible sale. All comments must be received by August 18.
