'Critical' missing 6-year-old in Welland found safe, police say

A Welland man has been arrested and charged in connection with luring a minor

The charges stem from an undercover investigation into luring minors launched by Niagara Regional Police in February 2024.

Detectives from the NRP Internet Child Exploitation Unit and Technological Crim unit would serve a search warrant at a private residence in Welland and seized numerous devices capable of storing data.

David Evan Quirt, 39, was arrested and has been charged with luring a child via telecommunication to facilitate sexual interference, luring a child via telecommunication to facilitate sexual interference and two counts of making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16 years of age.

Quirt was held in custody and was set to appear for a bail hearing on June 10 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
