Brampton’s Rose Theatre is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year with the unveiling of a new season that will bring a mix of international performers, local talent and community programming to the city’s downtown arts hub.

Opened in September 2006, The Rose has grown into one of Brampton’s key cultural venues, hosting touring artists, local productions and community events that officials say have helped shape the city’s arts identity over the past two decades.

The 2026–2027 season, branded under the theme Roots. Blossom. Bloom., reflects on the theatre’s beginnings while highlighting its evolution alongside the city’s growing arts scene.

To mark the milestone, The Rose will host a free community celebration titled 20 Years in Bloom on Sept. 19 at 1 Theatre Lane. The day-long event, running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., will feature live performances, behind-the-scenes experiences, family activities and appearances from local artists and community partners. Organizers say the event is intended to recognize the audiences, volunteers, staff and donors who have supported the venue since its opening.

The anniversary season lineup includes a range of well-known performers such as Jeremy Jordan, Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy, Susan Aglukark, Gowan and Pavlo, alongside Brampton-based and emerging artists.

Programming will also highlight ongoing partnerships with local arts organizations, including The Rose Orchestra, Brampton Concert Band, Brampton Music Theatre and others. Several returning festivals and collaborative events are also planned, including the 10th anniversary of the World of Jazz Festival and the return of Flow Fest.

Family-friendly offerings are set to include performances like Splash’N Boots, 360 ALLSTARS, and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s Symphonic Singalong, while more experimental productions such as Don’t Touch the Art, Cosmic Odyssey and Solstice: A Winter Circus Experience will expand the theatre’s immersive programming slate.

City officials say The Rose continues to serve as a cornerstone of Brampton’s cultural network, alongside venues such as Lester B. Pearson Theatre, Cyril Clark and Garden Square, which collectively host a wide range of performances throughout the year.

Tickets for the new season go on sale June 26 at noon, with early access available to Encore Members starting June 25. Memberships cost $10 annually and include early ticket access, rewards points and exclusive offers.

Speaking about the milestone, city representatives described The Rose as a defining cultural institution that has helped connect residents through shared artistic experiences while supporting the growth of local talent and community arts programming.

Tickets to shows can be found at therosebrampton.ca, by phone, or in person at The Rose Box Office.
