The Town of Oakville is looking for the community’s input on protecting and enhancing the character of its historic areas and neighbourhoods.

The online survey will be used to update a draft of the Town’s Old Oakville Heritage Conservation District Study (HCD) which is set to go before Council later this year.

Residents can go here for the online survey.

The Old Oakville Heritage Conservation District extends from south of Robinson Street to the lakefront and from the Sixteen Mile Creek to Allan Street.

By updating the District Study, the Town is able to identify heritage characteristics that are valuable to the community and conserve them for future generations.

“The purpose of a HCD is to protect and enhance the special character of historic areas and neighbourhoods,” said the Town of Oakville in a release. “This is done by establishing policies and guidelines on how to manage change consistently for all property owners in that area.”

Once the District Study is approved, Council along with the Heritage Oakville Advisory Committee, town staff and property owners will use it to guide their decision-making about changes to buildings, streetscapes and natural heritage.
