An Indonesian pop-up restaurant has hit the Food District at Square One in Mississauga.

SAMBAL Toronto is a pop-up bistro that serves authentic Indonesian cuisine and sambals.

According to their website, sambal is a spicy condiment used in Indonesia and Malaysia that is made with chilli peppers and other ingredients.

The pop-up will be at the Food District from now until Dec. 10, 2022, and will feature an exclusive menu that introduces multicultural aspects of Indonesia.

Items that will be featured in their exclusive menu include their Baba bowl, Nasi Goreng Kampoeng, Bakso Bakar, Soto Betawi, Tahu Gejrot and more.

Also available for purchase will be Indonesian chilli sauces including sambal ijo, teri, garlic and cakalang.

The pop-up will be open Monday to Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Currently, the restaurant does not have a permanent location, however, they are working towards opening one in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) in the hopes of more people being able to enjoy authentic Indonesian food.
