If paneer on pizza is perfection to your tastebuds, there’s a place for that in Mississauga.

An Indian restaurant whose speciality is Gujarati Thali & Mumbai-style street food is serving hot-and-spicy vegetarian fare in Mississauga. Avsar restaurant, which recently opened at 5150 Dixie Rd Unit #4, offers a changing daily menu that features creations geared to meat-eschewing diners. Some examples include double-decker sandwiches filled with grilled vegetables, cheese or paneer.

The menu also includes a variety of pizzas with a “specially sourced” base. Pizza offerings include chutney veggie, pav bhaji, paneer makhani and Szechuan chilli cheese.

Drink options include milkshakes as well as Limca and Thums Up soft drinks, which are Coca-Cola’s flagship flavours in India.

Avsar is open from 12 noon to 3 p.m. for lunch and from 4:30 to 9 p.m. for dinner from Tuesday to Thursday on Sunday. The dinner hours are extended to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and they are closed on Monday.

It has a tented area for outdoor dining amid the current COVID-19 restrictions, and foodies who sign up for their mailing list can earn a 10-per-cent discount.

The restaurant’s menu can be perused at avsarfood.com.
