The City of Hamilton has announced plans to create an inclusive play space in the northwest corner of Inch Park and is seeking input from Hamiltonians on the park’s design.

With a concept of a “park within a park” that caters to diverse needs, the space aims to provide an inclusive play experience.

According to City officials, the project prioritizes accessible amenities and embraces the principles of inclusive design, ensuring that every individual can fully participate and enjoy the space.

The design process for the Inch Park play space follows the “radically inclusive” model, championed by ‘Harper’s Playground,‘ focuses on three aspects: physical, social, and emotional invitation.

The park’s features will adapt to everyone, regardless of ability,  incorporate elements of nature and communal spaces and will be aesthetically pleasing.

“The design will consider a variety of textures, play values, sensory experiences, changes in topography and plantings to create a play space that is truly unique and memorable for all,” according to City of Hamilton officials.

Residents and interested individuals can provide input on the play space design through this survey.
