Mississauga man wins $250,000 lotto prize for second big win in four years

Satnam Banwait is enjoying his second big lottery prize win in the last four years–and he’s already thinking about winning another one.

The 55-year-old Mississauga man won $250,000 in the April 1 Lotto Max draw when his ticket was among four that shared the $1 million Maxmillions prize.

For good measure, he won $2 on his Encore selection on the same ticket.

Banwait, who says he’s been playing the lottery since 1987, won $10,000 playing Encore four years ago.

“I would love to win again. Maybe the jackpot next time,” he said with a laugh while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.

Banwait, like most lotto winners, said at first glance he thought his big win was a mistake.

He said he checked his ticket at the store and thought he had won $250 at first.

“I checked it again and realized it was $250,000. I was so happy,” he added.

Banwait said he plans to save his win and set some of it aside for a well-deserved vacation.

The winning ticket was purchased at Netherby Variety, on Durliat Rd. in Welland.
