Oshawa’s iconic lakefront pier is finally open to the public after a winter of upgrades and restorative work.
The pier, which has seen its share of mishaps over the years – the MV Ocean Castle, arriving in the Port of Oshawa with a load of steel, struck the pier in the fall of 2021, forcing a temporary closure – has been off limits to the public since October 15.

The Hamilton-Oshawa Authority Port Authority owns the pier, with the harbour company and the city enjoying a ‘promenade’ agreement, allowing for public use of the pier on the west side of the Oshawa harbour.
The popular pier is located adjacent to Lakeview Park which has several large designated picnic areas, a picnic shelter, playground and splash pad, and is home to the Oshawa Museum and the Jubilee Pavilion.
To help ensure public safety, visitors are reminded that diving or swimming off the pier, fishing, climbing on the railings and docking boats are not permitted.
