Ice maintenance to result in late opening for Trafalgar Park outdoor rink in Oakville

Trafalgar Park outdoor rink in Oakville will be opening later than its usual time today (Jan. 13) due to crews clearing the snow and performing ice maintenance.

As a result, the rink will open later than its usual time of 10:00 a.m.

“Our crews are working to clear the snow and perform ice maintenance on the Trafalgar Park outdoor rink. It will NOT be open at the usual time of 10 a.m.,” said the Town on Twitter.

“Stay tuned for updates. Apologies, and thank you for your patience.”

Last month, the Town announced that the refrigerated outdoor skating rink at Trafalgar Park would open for the season on Dec. 12.

Weather permitting, residents can enjoy the rink daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. until March.

Admission is free and space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. While no registration is required, capacity limits apply and are subject to change.

Standard public skating admission requirements also apply which include no gameplay or scrimmages.

The use of sticks and pucks are permitted during designated times only and failure to follow the rules may result in being asked to leave.

Helmets are also strongly recommended.
