The Burlington OPP made it aware to the public of an incident where a sheet of ice flew off a vehicle travelling on Hwy 403 and smashed into the windshield of the vehicle behind it.

This late afternoon (Feb. 25) 2023, police responded to a collision on Hwy 403/Sunnyridge in Hamilton, where a piece of ice flew off one vehicle and crashed into the windshield of another.

After further investigation, police say the passenger sustained minor injuries.

The photos released by the Highway Safety Division show significant damage was done to the windshield where the ice had hit.

It was a few days earlier when the severe blast of winter weather impacted much of southern Ontario and just yesterday (Feb. 24) OPP tweeted a video, letting driver’s know the dangers of not clearing their vehicles of ice and snow.

The officer mentioned that if driver’s don’t deal with the build-up on their vehicles, the snow and ice will form into one big piece and while going at fast speeds on the highway, can easily fly off.

Police say drivers are responsible of any damage caused to another vehicle because of flying ice.
