Ice build-up adding new power outages to Fort Erie, Port Colborne

The Canadian Niagara Power is having a tough times keeping ahead of the power outages in Fort Erie and Port Colborne today (Feb. 23).

They started with a little more than 1,100 power outages in the early morning and crews were successful in getting that down to 156 homes without power.

However, due to the inclement weather, there have been new outages.

“Ongoing ice build-up continues and is contributing to additional outages,” posted the utility compnay.

“We are working to restore approximately 300 customers primarily in Point Abino and Crystal Beach (area of Fort Erie).”
