As Ajax Regional Councillor Marilyn Crawford put it on Twitter, the world can be a “complicated” place, “but today we celebrate our differences and embrace them.”

The celebration was Sunday’s 2023 PRIDE Parade through the streets of Ajax, with hundreds of participants and supporters lining the parade route on Harwood Avenue from Falby Court to Arbour Park.

Happiness, acceptance and inclusion and fun were the buzzwords of the day with many of the marchers continuing the festivities at Arbour Park following the parade with a vendor fair in the bright sunshine from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The after-party had local vendors, community groups, musicians and a beer garden to help PRIDE supporters make the most of the day.

PRIDE Durham was the official host for the annual event, with volunteers and Town of Ajax staff putting in the leg work to make it all come together.
