A power outage in downtown Hamilton on Wednesday (August 5) afternoon is impacting hundreds of homes and businesses.

A power outage in downtown Hamilton on Wednesday (August 5) afternoon is impacting hundreds of homes and businesses.

Alectra Utilities reports there is presently a limited power outage in the area from Barton Street East to King William Street and from Wellington Street North to Mary Street of Hamilton affecting 1914 customers.

The cause of the outage is being investigated, the utility provider said.

Alectra says crews have been dispatched to the area to make repairs.

The estimated time for power restoration is 4:00 p.m.
