Human trafficking investigation in Oshawa results in charges for Toronto man

A Toronto man faces numerous charges after an Oshawa human trafficking investigation.

Durham Regional Police officers were called to Laval Dr. and Stevenson Rd. around 4 p.m. back on Dec. 8. There they found a woman who reported a man had forced her into the sex trade and then abandoned her in Oshawa.

After a lengthy investigation, police raided a home near Dundas St. and Jarvis St. in Toronto. The area is a busy section of Old Toronto near Toronto Metropolitan University.

They arrested a man during the raid. Due there may be other victims, police have released a photo of the suspect.

Tajae Ried, 23 of Toronto, is charged with human trafficking, profiting from sexual services, procuring sex services, advertising sexual services, disobeying a court order, breach of probation and possession of cocaine. He remains in custody.

“Anyone who has been victimized by the accused or has any information about this or similar incidents is asked to contact the Human Trafficking Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5600,” police wrote.
