Human trafficking arrests made in Toronto, Ajax

Toronto Police made a small dent in human trafficking last week with the arrest of two people after a 27-year-old victim was trafficked and made to perform sexual services.

In March 2026, The Toronto Police Human Trafficking Unit launched their investigation in both Toronto and Ajax in March and executed a search warrant at addresses in both communities on July 16.

It is alleged that through a combination of deception, coercion and control, the accused trafficked a 27-year-old victim and that the money earned by the victim was surrendered over to the accused. It is also alleged that the victim was transported by the accused to different locations to meet clients to perform sexual services

Nygel Wright, 30, of Toronto, was charged with:

• Trafficking in person
• Advertising another person’s sexual services
• Procuring/exercising control
• Financial/material benefit/trafficking person over 18
• Material benefit from sexual services
• Withhold/destroy travel or identity document/trafficking person
• Carry concealed weapon
• Possess weapon for committing an offence
• Uttering threats cause bodily harm
• Forcible confinement
• Traffic in schedule I substance
• Assault

The same day Kristen Henderson, 34, of Ajax was also arrested. She was charged with:

• Trafficking in persons by recruiting
• Procuring/exercising control
• Financial/material benefit/trafficking person over 18
• Material benefit from sexual services
• Traffic in schedule I substance

Both made their first appearances in court that day in Toronto.
