This weekend, everyone’s invited to see Mississauga’s waterfront neighbourhood of Port Credit get beautifully lit up for the holidays.
Happening from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, a NEW holiday tradition Light Up the Port adds Christmas lights to the community’s iconic lighthouse and the trees along the main street – and this year, they’ll also light up the new 25-foot-tall Christmas tree standing in the centre of the skate trail at Port Credit Memorial Park.
Residents can join the Port Credit BIA and Councillor Stephen Dasko for the lighting ceremony, which will officially kick off the holiday season in Port Credit.
As part of the ceremony, Port Credit Memorial Park will feature Christmas carolling, performers, live music, vendors, games, a trackless train, and more, all perfect for a day of fun with the whole family. And for those who love to skate, be sure to hit the park’s 220-metre skating trail while enjoying a view of the grandiose new Christmas tree.
The Christmas festivities in Port Credit will continue throughout December with Sweets on the Street, offering free holiday treats to all passersby! And on weekends during the month of December, enjoy festive holiday music playing along the main street, get a photo with Santa, listen to the sounds of the Victorian Carollers, and even keep an eye out for a visit from the Grinch.
Even more events and activities are planned for the holidays, so keep an eye on Port Credit’s website.
Save the date for the lighting ceremony, happening this weekend on Nov. 30! The event is made possible with support from Visit Mississauga, sponsors Port Credit Community Foundation and FRAM + Slokker, the City of Mississauga, Ward 1 Councillor Stephen Dasko, and staging support provided by Metal Works.
All year round, Port Credit is one of the city’s most popular neighbourhoods to shop and spend time in. It’s where you’ll find many popular boutique shops and restaurants in a beautiful, walkable community right on the lake.
