Mississauga Latin Festival August 2024.

The 16th annual Mississauga Latin Festival is expected to welcome tens of thousands of visitors to the city’s downtown core over the next three days.

Mississauga Latin Festival 2024, once again an all-ages celebration to which admission is free, runs Friday through Sunday at Celebration Square. Hours are Friday from 5 until 11 p.m., Saturday from noon until 11 p.m. and Sunday from noon until 7 p.m.

Organizers say visitors to the festival will enjoy “the best Latin music, food and shows” to be offered in the city this summer. They added the three-day event will also celebrate Mississauga’s 50th anniversary as a city.

In further describing the festival, those who put it together say it’s “full of joy and the flavour of Latin culture and includes dance academies that will teach you the best Latin rhythms such as salsa, bachata, merengue, tango and more.”

Also offered up throughout the weekend will be traditional food dishes from Latin America including tacos, quesadillas, burritos, empanadas, tamales and Colombian-style hot dogs. Venezuelan tequenos and arepas and many other delicious dishes are also on the menu, organizers say.

Musical performances, a wide variety of crafts and a children’s play area are also on tap for the weekend.

Friday night’s lineup kicks off with music by DJ Albert at 5 p.m. followed by singers Natan J (Dominican Republic), Lizy (Ecuador) and Canada’s own Justin. Latin Energy Dance Show, Colombia Entre Las Venas, Dance to the Rhythm, Yara and Orchestra, and the Latin Swing Orchestra round out Friday night’s entertainment.
