A huge career expo is being held in early May at Pearson Airport in Mississauga for those looking to get into or advance their careers in the aviation industry.

The one-day event is being held on Saturday, May 6 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at WestJet South Bay Hangar, 6085 Midfield Rd.

The Careers in Aviation Expo is the first of two being held this year across the country. The next expo is scheduled for Oct. 24 in Calgary.

Organizers say the goal is to connect aspiring aviators, graduating students and young professionals with leading companies, organizations and schools from the aviation and aerospace sectors.

“The Careers in Aviation Expo program is designed to provide insight into a range of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aviation careers including, but not limited to pilots, aircraft maintenance engineers, air traffic controllers, airport and airline operations, aerospace engineering and design, and flight services,” organizers say.

The event includes dozens of exhibitors, four main stage presentations by industry leaders discussing the challenges and opportunities within a range of aviation careers, and a series of “breakout sessions” with smaller groups and mentors.

Those who attend the expo will gain access to information in a wide range of sectors including commercial airlines, business aviation, helicopter operations, training, government and military, engine and airplane manufacturers, supply logistics and airports, among others.
