The Farmers’ Almanac forecasts a bitter cold and flurry-filled start to February, lasting from Feb. 1 to Feb. 12.

As per Environment Canada, daytime temperatures will be several degrees above zero for most of the week, with the warmest day hitting 7 C while the evenings will dip as low as -9 C.

Although it will be chilly, sunshine is expected to stick around until Thursday (Feb. 8) when the next four days will experience a frigid cold front sweeping in, bringing snow showers, blustery winds and some of winter’s coldest temperatures.

Unusually cold conditions persist from Feb. 12 to Feb. 15 with some scattered snow showers and flurries.

Between Feb. 16 to Feb. 19, it will be rainy with flurries carrying through into Family Day long weekend.

The last ten days of the month will be fairly cloudy with chances of rain and snow for regions closer to the Great Lakes.

Southern Ontario might see a delayed spring as March brings varying temperatures along with continuous rain and snow, notes the Farmers’ Almanac on their website.
