Raptors fans could spend more than a few months’ rent to catch a playoff game in Toronto.

The Toronto Raptors head to Cleveland to begin the best-of-seven opening-round NBA playoff series this Saturday against the Cavaliers.

The first home game of the 2026 postseason is on Thursday, April 23, at Scotiabank Arena, but fans looking to snag tickets will need some extra cash.

A new report from real estate platform Zoocasa compares how much rent a fan might spend for a playoff ticket.

According to StubHub, a pair of courtside tickets for the first 2026 postseason game in Toronto runs roughly $8,783, Zoocasa said.

According to Rental.ca’s analysis of 60 Canadian cities, that single courtside experience is equivalent to five to eight months of rent in more than half the markets studied.

Rents are down in the Greater Toronto Area, but it still costs over $2,000 for a one-bedroom place in most communities.

Even in high-cost cities, the comparison is striking, Zoocasa added. In Vancouver, where the average monthly rent is $2,971, courtside tickets cost about three months’ rent.

In Toronto at $2,476 per month, Mississauga at $2,396 per month and Brampton at $2,245, the same seats amount to about three-and-half to four months of rent.

Zoocasa notes that rents across the Greater Toronto Area remain elevated, and the gap between individual cities is often smaller than expected. The difference between rents in Toronto and Mississauga, $80, is “barely enough to cover dinner for two and an Uber ride after the game.”

In mid-priced cities like Hamilton ($2,189), Ottawa ($2,149), and Calgary ($1,907), courtside seats cost roughly four to five months of rent.

At the other end of the spectrum, renters in St. John’s, where the average rent is $1,143, would effectively be trading eight months of housing costs for a single night courtside.

At approximately $1,354 for a pair, lower bowl seats will cost about half a month’s rent in many GTA cities.

The cheapest tickets come to just over $300—about 10 to 13 per cent of an average rent, Zoocasa found.

Of course, a Raptors player would have no trouble paying for a ticket or buying a GTA home. Raptors forward and Mississauga native RJ Barrett, for example, earns $17.8 million after tax, and could buy 11 homes in his hometown outright at $1.6 million each and still have roughly $117,000 left in his pocket, the report noted.

“For most residents, though, the reality is far less flexible,” Zoocasa said.
